Writing Guidelines For YM Submissions

Do you have a special memory that you’d like to share with the world? No need to worry. We keep things simple at YM. Here’s all you have to do:

Include your personal essay in the body of an e-mail message addressed to: yesterdaysmagazette@gmail.com.

Note: No paragraph indents (Flush Left), one space between each sentence, one paragraph return between paragraphs, and no more than 1000 words if you wish your submission to also be considered for our e-book and printed edition.

No text attachments, please.

Feel free to add a short biography (50 words, max.) Stories with good oldie photos have the best chance of acceptance.

Digital photos or artwork can be copied and pasted easily from your computer into the body of the e-mail or added as an attachment. (Or we can get your photos from any online website.) We prefer .jpg or .gif and no larger than 5×7.

Sorry, no regular payment but we do offer a $50 prize plus publication in our printed magazine each year in January for the best “YM Memory Of The Year” story that our judges choose from new submissions received from Feb 1 to Dec. 1. We also strongly promote all of our writers, giving them a respected byline and ample space to promote their work.

If you prefer to snail mail your story and/or photo, send to: YM, c/o E. P. Burke Publishing, 2532 Clubhouse Cir. #104, Sarasota, FL 34232. Be sure to include SASE for reply or return of material.

That’s all there is to it. So let us help you preserve your memories for posterity. Future generations will thank you. And so will our many readers!

Looking forward to your submission,

Ned

  1. I cannot tell you exactly what I did yesterday but I can tell you what happened 70 years ago while growing up during the great depression. I have been writing a book called, “Cooking In Back Of the Store.” Perhaps, it should be called, “Survival.”
I would be happy to submit articles if you are interested. Thanks. Carol

  2. Carol:

Feel free to send an article. Read over our guidelines first, of course.
